Next of Kin International is a unique and innovative
organisation supplying a potentially lifesaving service to its
members and the Emergency services.
The organisation was a set up following the personal experience
of its founder, Lee Hemington, when his mother was rushed to
hospital in a coma and given just 48 hours to live. After 5
hours Lee was finally tracked down and was able to provide vital
information that saved his mother's life.
Most people do not realise that the Police can have a difficult
time trying to locate relatives in an emergency. This is because
whilst most of us carry a credit card, driving licence, or
pension book etc., these will only tell them who we are but not
how to contact our nearest & dearest. The time lost trying to
locate relatives with vital information could be crucial to the
future well being of the casualty.
As a result of his experience, and following wide consultation
with the Home Office, and Emergency services etc., the Next of
Kin International service was formed, providing the Police &
paramedics with a fast and simple way of tracing a patient's
family. .
Since then, a range of unique services have been developed to
provide simple, low cost solutions to every day worries, such
as Medical Response ™ a similar
service to Next of Kin but designed for people with potentially
life threatening medical conditions, and Nationwide Property
Watch, a crime prevention and emergency contact system for the
home. There is even a location service, Dog ID & Cat ID, for
lost pets – for older people particularly, their pet is often
their most important companion. . Please visit www.nextofkin.com
The Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) resolved in 2001
that they would support the work that Next of Kin International
carries out and that all forces should be made aware of the free
emergency contact service available to Police all over the UK.
Next of Kin has been featured in many TV news items, including
London Tonight, GMTV, Anglia News, Channel 5
- plus over 50 radio stations, many of which have
interviewed representatives from the company talking about
topical issues relating to crime and accidents & emergencies.
The FREE International Next of Kin Card was launched in 2001 to
support the work of the National Autistic Society. The service
has received the endorsement of many well known people,
including Bruce Forsyth OBE, Ronnie Corbett OBE, June
Whitfield CBE, Robert Lindsay, Craig
Fairbrass, and Eamonn Holmes.

In 2003 Next of Kin International partnered with Pinnacle
Insurance PLC to introduce their products to the Financial
Services market. This enabled our product development team to
work closely with some of the biggest names in insurance to
innovate some exciting added value
packages to bolt on to insurance products, providing worthwhile
differentiation in an increasingly commoditised market..
